Boarding students live at Barton Hill House, a purpose-built residential boarding house around 15 minutes’ walk from the main school campus. The boarding house comprises of two buildings: the main boarding house containing all leisure areas, dining room, laundry and office, in addition to the Sixth Form boarding house and Head of Boarding accommodation. The whole complex is surrounded by huge gardens with plenty of space for sports, relaxing and BBQs in the summer.

Barton Hill House is self-contained and really is a “home away from home”. Being away from the main school, it naturally creates a sense of home and community and having our own boarding dining area helps to foster than sense of family.

Boys and girls have separate accommodation and two, three and four person rooms. Most rooms are en-suite and have been recently refurbished and have a desk, drawers and a wardrobe, and wall space for posters and pictures. In our Sixth Form House, there are single study rooms that help with the transition to university. The Sixth Form House also has a huge common room with sofas and TV, in addition to a study area and computer room and kitchen to make drinks and snacks. Our sick bay is also located in the Sixth Form House that is used whenever necessary.
While rooms may be separate, all social areas are shared and it is common to see boys and girls, younger and older students, socialising and hanging out together. Sixth Form do have their own common room, but the main common area and dining room are used by all boarders who mix together and learn from one another.
