Barton Hill House – the boarding complex of Shaftesbury School, is located about half a mile from the main school and is situated within it’s own extensive grounds. Once an old family residence, the Victorian main house has evolved over time, from classrooms and single sex boarding, to the modern, comfortable boarding accommodation it is today. The main house features a main common area where most students socialise, together with lounges and an extensive dining room. The garden and grounds can all be enjoyed by students without leaving the boarding house and many activities and events make use of the garden each year.
The bedrooms are situated in two separate areas, the boys block and the girls block. Whilst these areas are separate, all students socialise in the main common areas which provide a nice space for all the boarders in our community. The Sixth Form House, opened in 2010, allows those in the upper school the chance to develop their own sense of independence and use the study area, kitchen and single rooms in a pre-university environment.
